Overview

Katy is a director in the firm’s construction and engineering team who specialises in providing advice on the procurement strategy and negotiation of standard form and bespoke construction and engineering contracts, service and supply agreements and the associated development, funding and third party arrangements. 

With a background in civil engineering, and having worked in-house at Siemens plc for two years, she has acted for contractors, developers and investors on major international energy and infrastructure projects. 

Katy has extensive experience advising on nuclear projects, renewable energy schemes and in relation to regulated infrastructure including electricity transmission, water, highways and rail.

 
Experience

Experience gained at previous firms includes:

  • Advising a developerof a new nuclear power plant on the procurement of its portfolio of NEC3 based civils works and services packages.
  • Advising a supplier on the NEC3 based contract for the concrete supply and on site batching services for a new nuclear power plant which incorporated target cost and cost reimbursable pricing mechanisms.
  • Advising an international EPC contractor in connection with its potential first entry into a UK nuclear new build project.
  • Advising a contractor on the connection of numerous UK offshore windfarms to the National Grid using both NEC and FIDIC forms.
  • Advising a contractor consortium in connection with the FIDIC based EPC contract for the Western Link interconnector.
  • Advising a service provider in relation to OFTO O&M service contracts.
  • Advising a water utility on a series of bespoke frameworks to support its transition to smart water meters
  • Advising a contractor in connection with frameworks for rail electrification works based on a range of contracting models including the MF1 model form, ICC Measurement, Design and Construct and Target Cost contracts.
