Overview

Owen is an associate in the construction and engineering team. He provides advice in relation to both contentious and non-contentious construction and engineering work, with particular interest in development and transport/infrastructure. 

Owen regularly works with standard form contracts (including, among others: JCT, NEC and FIDIC) for local authorities, investors, consultants, developers and contractors.

Experience
  • Providing advice to, and dealing with multiple adjudications for, a national contractor on an NEC3 contract based major UK infrastructure project (project value +£250 million).
  • Providing advice relating to a biomass CHP plant on Take-Over, Supplemental Availability Guarantees, the interface between EPC contracts and O&M Agreements, and Liquidated Damages.
  • Advising a major national contractor in relation to indemnification claims arising under transferred O&M contracts (PFI).
  • Drafting UIP, ICP and private wire connection contracts for use by UK-based energy companies
  • Providing strategic advice to a major developer JV relating to the construction aspects of a new regional train station, as well as contract suite drafting and negotiation, and interfacing with relevant interested third parties (including Network Rail, funders, and public bodies - government and local authorities).
  • Carrying out due diligence reviews and reporting on the acquisition of and lending on windfarms/turbines, residential blocks, industrial developments, and care homes throughout England and Northern Ireland (project values between £5 million and £15 million).
