About

Bernard is a senior associate in the firm’s Banking & Finance team. His wider range of experience includes advising both lenders and borrowers in relation to energy and infrastructure finance, real estate finance and general corporate lending.

His energy and infrastructure finance experience cuts across project finance, portfolio finance for the construction and development of of solar and battery energy storage projects, (including co-located projects), gas peaking plants. Bernard’s general corporate lending experience covers lending to a diverse range of businesses including investment grade businesses in the manufacturing and industrial sector, art galleries, agricultural businesses, trustees of pension schemes, etc and ECA covered debt to international businesses in emerging markets. He also has experience working and advising on leading infrastructure development transactions in Africa.

Bernard is admitted to practice in Nigeria and is recognised as a ‘rising star’ by IFLR 1000.

Experience

  • Atrato Onsite Energy: Advised on its secured £30m revolving credit facility provided by NatWest to support the company’s growth strategy in order to expand its solar pv footprint and capitalise on its significant pipeline of opportunities.
  • Balance Power: Advised on its financing provided by Triple Point to accelerate its solar and battery storage projects across the UK.
  • German borrower: Advised on a facility for the purpose of acquiring an solar pv portfolio company in order to expand the borrower’s solar power generation footprint in Europe.
  • Lender: Advised the lender on an untied ECA covered facility to an Indian steel developer.
  • Lender: Advised the lender on a multi-million pound facility to a Guernsey incorporated borrower to refinance existing debt in relation to property held in the UK.
  • Lender: Advised the lender on a term loan facility provided to borrowers (including a sole trader) for the purpose of refinancing existing debt and providing additional funds to expand their footprint in the agricultural and real estate sectors.
