Edward advises individuals and families on a range of private client work, specialising in tax advice and succession planning. Edward’s work often involves an international element and he has a particular interest in clients with Italian, Spanish and French connections.
Before joining Burges Salmon, Edward worked as a solicitor in the corporate tax department of an international law firm in both London and Bristol, with a focus on the asset management and investment funds sector.
Experience
- Advising individuals with international connections on UK tax residence, domicile and the UK tax implications of owning assets and doing business in the UK.
- Advising on succession planning, including drafting Wills and establishing and managing trusts and family investment companies.
- Advising on the UK tax implications of share and business sales, including pre- and post-exit tax planning.
- Advising on direct and indirect tax issues relating to UK real estate.
- Advising on UK tax issues relevant to asset managers and fund executives, including in relation to carried interest, salaried members rules and employment-related securities.
