About
Elliot joined Burges Salmon as one of the first legal apprentices in the UK in September 2016 and qualified into the Construction and Engineering team in March 2024.
He has a wide base of experience advising clients on JCT, NEC and FIDIC forms of contract, acting particularly for developers, funders and contractors in the energy and utilities, defence and built environment sectors.
Experience
- Battery Storage Contractor: Advising a contractor on a series of 20+MW capacity BESS projects in relation to the negotiations of EPC, LTSA and ancillary contracts.
- Government departments: Advising a government department in developing and negotiating an NEC-based contract incorporating design, construction and fit-out related to a circa £300M key defence infrastructure project.
- National utility company: Advising a utility company on the update of their precedent suite of NEC contracts from NEC3 to NEC4. The update precedent suite will be used to deliver the client’s capital works until 2035 which is worth circa £900M.
- Lenders: Advising major UK lenders on JCT based construction contracts, professional appointments and ancillary contracts in relation to various £multi-million facility agreements related to large infrastructure projects.
- Nuclear Power Developer: Assisting a developer on a number of civil and infrastructure packages using NEC and FIDIC based contracts in respect of the development of its £20BN nuclear power station.
