About

Euan leads the real estate side of Burges Salmon’s UK-wide Energy & Utilities sector team. He has specialised in clean energy and net zero projects for over 20 years and is ranked by Legal 500 as a ‘leading individual’ in London for renewables.

He specialises in structuring and documenting land arrangements and advises developers, investors and debt funders. His team has completed over 1,000 transactions covering a wide range of technologies across the UK ranging from mature technologies such as offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, hydro, pumped hydro storage, battery storage, anaerobic digestion, biomass, biogas, CHP, heat networks and energy from waste, through to more innovative projects involving hydrogen, wave/tidal, sustainable aviation fuels, geothermal, and carbon capture and storage. He also advises a number of electric vehicle charge point operators and helps corporates to fulfill their ESG ambitions.

Euan is qualified to practise law in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland and is a member of Burges Salmon’s Strategic Board responsible for strategy setting and financial performance.

Experience

  • Eni UK: Advising on the development of the HyNet North West carbon capture and storage project.
  • Aukera: Advising on the development, acquisition and financing of onshore wind and solar projects throughout the UK.
  • Aura Power: Advising on the development, financing and sale of solar and BESS assets in England.
  • Blue Gem Wind (a Simply Blue and Total JV): Advising on its floating wind project in the Celtic Sea and the acquisition of land rights in Wales.
  • Islandmagee Energy Storage: Advising on its proposed gas storage project in subsea salt caverns beneath Larne Lough in Northern Ireland.
  • NatWest: Advising on the financing of Infinergy’s Limekilns onshore wind farm in Scotland.
