James trained at Burges Salmon and qualified into the Employment team as a solicitor in September 2023. He has experience advising employers and employees in both the private and public sector on a range of contentious and non-contentious employment and HR matters.
He has worked on claims in the Employment Tribunal relating to unfair and wrongful dismissal, all types of discrimination, whistle blowing, victimisation and unlawful deductions from wages.

- Major national retailer: Defending a major national retailer against a range of complex Employment Tribunal litigation, including claims for unfair and wrongful dismissal and discrimination.
- FTSE-100 defence and security group: Providing regular advice to HR on a range of employment law issues for a FTSE 100 defence and security group.
- Wide range of businesses: Drafting contracts of employment, service agreements, settlement agreements, HR policies and handbooks for a wide range of businesses.
- Data subject access requests: Assisting several employers with handling and responding to data subject access requests from employees or former employees.
- Financial services sector client: Advising a client within the financial services sector on the employment law implications of introducing a four-day working week and drafting the necessary contractual documentation.
- Corporate transactions: Advising clients in the building, care, energy, electronics and hospitality sectors on the employment aspects of corporate transactions.
