About

Jessica is a senior associate in the firm’s Corporate Tax team with over 10 years experience. She advises on a wide range of corporate and business tax issues, including corporate transactions and reorganisations, VAT and stamp taxes, international tax issues and employment taxes.

Jessica has a particular focus on real estate tax and works closely with Burges Salmon’s real estate team to advise on the tax aspects of matters including the acquisition and disposal of UK real estate, development projects and landlord and tenant work.

She is also an expert in charity law, where she advises on issues including governance and constitution; trustee duties; investment; trading and relationships with commercial participators; mergers and tax.

Jessica is a member of the CIOT, and is a chartered tax advisor.

Experience

  • Virgin Hotels: Advising on the tax consequences of the leasehold purchase of Virgin Hotels London Shoreditch.
  • John Lewis Partnership: Advising on the tax implications of the sub-letting of a 1 million sq ft distribution centre.
  • LPPI: Advising on the tax aspects of the establishment of the first LGPS Real Estate Fund, which was launched with £800 million of direct property investment assets.
  • Stevenage Borough Council: Advising on various complex real estate transactions, including a joint venture in relation to a mixed use town centre regeneration project to provide 3,500 new homes.
  • Yeo Valley: Advising on various transactions including a significant restructuring which involved various real estate issues.
