Jordan is a Chartered Legal Executive within the Dispute Resolution team and has significant knowledge and experience of Coronial and regulatory proceedings.
He started his legal career as the country’s first Higher Legal Apprentice and has over 11 years of case handling experience. He regularly advises and guides clients through the inquest process having done so since November 2017. Since this time, Jordan has developed technical expertise in Coronial law and has represented a range of organisations including; NHS trusts, social care providers, local authorities, police forces and private companies at Pre-Inquest Review Hearings and the substantive inquest hearing. This includes both jury and Article 2 compliant inquests. He has also advised healthcare practitioners, as part of the fitness to practice process, before their regulator.
Jordan also takes an interest in public inquiries, having acted for a Core Participant during a 14-month secondment at the largest police force in the UK. He is currently part of the inquiry legal team supporting the Module Lead Solicitor of the UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry.
Experience
- Ambulance trust: Part of the legal team representing an ambulance trust at a jury and Article 2 inquest which resulted in a judicial review that eventually reached the Supreme Court (Maguire v HM Senior Coroner for Blackpool & Flyde).
- The country’s largest police force: 14-month secondment acting for the country’s largest police force responding to the Undercover Policing Public Inquiry.
- Dentist: Acted for a dentist in their High Court appeal which clarified the law concerning the timescale for when an immediate suspension notice takes effect if the suspension is subject to an appeal Aga v General Dental Council.
- NHS trust: Represented an NHS trust at an inquest where he successfully applied and advocated for reporting restrictions on public interest grounds
- Mental health trust and community HIV clinic: Represented and advocated on behalf of a Mental Health Trust and Community HIV clinic at two separate Article 2 ECHR compliant and jury inquests.
- UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry: Part of the Inquiry Legal Team supporting the Module 6 Lead Solicitor of the UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry.
