Laura is an associate in the construction and engineering team. She advises on non-contentious and contentious matters in the energy, transport and general infrastructure sectors and regularly acts for stakeholders, including:

  • developers
  • contractors 
  • funders, and 
  • public sector organisations.

Laura is familiar with industry standard form contracts such as FIDIC and NEC and has experience in negotiating, reviewing and drafting project-specific contracts such as:

  • works contracts
  • professional appointments
  • collateral warranties, and
  • parent company guarantees

and in advising in respect of operational issues and potential disputes arising out of such contracts.

  • Assisting EDF (NNB) with the preparation and negotiation of several FIDIC-based construction packages for the £25 billion nuclear new build project at Hinkley Point C - one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe and the first nuclear new build in the UK in over 20 years.
  • Advising a joint venture contractor on the Thames Tideway Tunnel project, in respect of trouble shooting arising from an NEC-based construction contract for a £4.2 billion, 25km 'super sewer' in London.
  • Assisting the Isle of Wight Council in a dispute arising from a complex, bespoke PFI contract for the operation, maintenance and upgrade of the Isle of Wight's highways network.
  • Advising and assisting Abellio Greater Anglia with the negotiation and drafting of a full construction package (based on NEC forms) for the redevelopment of the Norwich Crown Point depot to accommodate updated fleet. 
  • Negotiation and drafting of project documentation for reserve power projects including battery, solar and gas technologies for several privately owned employers and contractors
  • Advising a high-street retailer in relation to the arbitration of a complex contractual dispute arising from an energy purchasing agreement, in respect of strategy, pleadings and commercial settlement.
