About

Laura is a director in the Construction and Engineering team and a member of Burges Salmon’s highly regarded cross-disciplinary energy team.

She works for developers, funders and contractors, specialising in complex energy and infrastructure transactions and those involving new or developing technologies. She has experience advising on projects across a broad range of sectors and technologies with a strong focus on those which support the energy transition. A key part of Laura’s recent practice focuses on energy storage, an area where she has extensive experience and deep market knowledge.

Laura regularly works on project financed transactions and builds the principles of bankability into every element of her work. She builds strong relationships with her clients and their wider advisory teams, with a focus on working as a team to get the best result for her clients and their projects.

Experience

  • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners: Leading on procurement, negotiation and drafting of a suite of supply, construction, operation and maintenance contract for a 500MW / 1000 MWh battery storage project to be built at Coalburn, near Glasgow.
  • EDF/NNB: Ongoing support in respect of the procurement, preparation and negotiation of FIDIC-based construction packages for the £25 billion nuclear new build projects at Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C.
  • Waste to fuel: Advising a developer of a UK waste to aviation fuel project on project structuring, EPC/construction contracts, O&M arrangements and interfaces with funding arrangements.
  • Battery energy storage supplier: Acting for a leading battery energy storage contractor in respect of supply and EPC contracts for projects of up to 360MW in the UK.
