About

Marcus attended the University of Aberdeen from 2018-2022, studying an undergraduate degree in Scots Law with English Law. During this time, he volunteered for The Aberdeen Law Project, a pro bono student-led legal clinic, providing legal advice, research and community outreach programmes in Aberdeen. Whilst volunteering here, Marcus was largely involved in the digital crime awareness outreach project.

From 2022-2023, he completed his diploma in professional legal practice (DPLP), graduating with a distinction from the University of Aberdeen. In August 2023, he joined the firm, as one of the first two trainees to be based in our Edinburgh office.

Marcus has held seats in Real Estate and Construction & Engineering, along with a joint seat in Incentives and Pensions. He is currently based in our Corporate Finance team.

Experience

  • Commercial property transactions: Advising on a range of commercial property transactions including the drafting of leases and licences for works.
  • Drafting: Reviewing and drafting of complex FIDDIC style construction documents following negotiation calls with suppliers and operators to agree commercial terms.
  • Drafting: Drafting suite of employee share option plans including CSOP Plan, Unapproved Options Plan and Consultant Options Plans as well as preparing materials for townhall discussions with option holders.
  • Mentoring: Took part in our mentoring programme in partnership with Lasswade High School.
