About

Marina is a member of Burges Salmon’s People leadership team. She heads up the firm’s people development function, leading on learning and development as well as digital training.

Marina and her team provide best practice support for the learning and development of our legal, business professionals and client support teams. This includes the design and content of compliance and business skills training curricula as well as career development for our people. The team focuses in particular on leadership skills throughout the firm and works closely with our markets, finance and other functions to develop essential wider business and technical skills.

She works with our expert digital learning specialists to support digital fluency and adoption within the firm, including the use of generative AI tools. The digital learning team works with our people, from induction into the firm, throughout their time at Burges Salmon. It is market leading on digital accessibility in law firms.

The team supports clients with training and advice on a wide range of topics.

She also has seven years’ experience in a legal practice and was a lecturer at School of Law, University of East Anglia, Norwich for six years. She was also PSL and then learning and development manager based in APAC, Hong Kong and then Sydney and set up the L&D function across Asia. In another previous role she introduced a career conversations initiative, winning ‘Commended’ in ‘Business of Law’ for 2016 FT Awards for Innovation.

Marina also designed and implemented the ESG training programme nominated for Excellence in ESG at the British Legal Awards.

  • Admitted as a solicitor: England & Wales (1992)
  • LL.M (1st) Queens’ College, Cambridge (1990); MSc Business Psychology (1st), University of Westminster (2006)
  • Range of psychometric accreditations. Qualified coach 2008; coaching experience across APAC and UK.
