About

Nia is a non-contentious construction lawyer advising both public and private sector clients on complex projects predominantly in the Built Environment sector.

She advises on multifaceted construction transactions, with particular emphasis on development and regeneration schemes, industrial and logistics projects, tenant and corporate occupier fit-outs, facilities management, real estate finance and heat networks. She also has extensive experience in alliancing forms of contract and has advised widely in the nuclear and fusion sectors.

Nia sits on the Constructing Excellence Gold Standard Task Group which is mandated to verify whether public sector frameworks achieve the ‘Gold Standard’ set out in the government’s ‘Constructing the Gold Standard’ paper.

She also sits on the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard legal working group, and regularly presents on construction related topics in the Built Environment and public sector to clients and peers.

Experience

  • Tritax Big Box REIT PLC: Advising on all construction aspects in respect of its £5 billion logistics portfolio.
  • UK Atomic Energy Authority: Advising on a first of its kind programme to build a prototype fusion powerplant that will demonstrate net energy and fuel self-sufficiency to pave the way for the potential commercialisation of fusion energy.
  • Defra, Department for Transport and Government Property Agency: Advising these clients (separately) on strategic multi-million procurement of facilities management services to provide critical support to deliver their business objectives.
  • Aggregate Industries: Advising on the construction aspects in respect of a ‘super-shed’ at the Port of Liverpool. The substantial new import facility is one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
  • St Andrews Brewers Ltd: Advising on the construction contracts in respect of a new distillery and visitor centre on the Eden Estuary.
