About

Paul is Head of our Nuclear and Fusion Real Estate teams, and also a leading industry figure in the Real Estate Finance sector.

He specialises in first-of-a-kind nuclear and fusion projects, and is regarded as an expert when it comes to the real estate aspects of the nuclear and fusion industries. Paul is the author of the Real Estate contributions to the highly acclaimed ‘Burges Salmon Guide to Nuclear Law’.

Paul has operated in the Real Estate Finance Sector since 1994 overseeing the development of differing finance structurings in development and investment finance secured on commercial real estate assets. He advises lenders on debt and property holding structures with particular specialisms in Healthcare, PBSA and Hotels.

He is qualified both in England & Wales and Northern Ireland, and also leads the firms Trade Advisory Group for overseas clients wishing to set up businesses in the UK.

Experience

  • Fusion: Advising UKAEA on the development of the first three fusion facilities at Culham and West Burton.
  • Nuclear: Leading the Burges Salmon team which undertook the management of the government’s entire 13,000 acre estate.
  • Larch Healthcare: Advising on all aspects of a £400 million debt work out of 74 Care Homes across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
  • SMR Developers: Advising a variety of SMR developers looking to set up new projects in the UK.
  • Nuclear Decommissioning Authority: Advising on the strategy and subsequent disposal by the first of a kind online auction of land at Wylfa, Bradwell, Oldbury and Sellafield for nuclear new build.
  • HSBC: Advising in a variety of funding sectors including on the £144 million finance and financing of a portfolio of high class hotels across the UK.
