Paul has over 20 years’ experience in dealing with a variety of real estate matters acting for investors, funders, operators/occupiers and developers, working across a variety of sectors. He is particularly experienced in dealing with real estate matters arising in the health and social care sectors and energy and infrastructure sectors.
He is a key member of the firms health and social care team, and has significant experience in dealing with day to day real estate management issues arising on large portfolio’s. He regularly leads teams of lawyers dealing with sales and acquisitions, financing and development of social care assets.
With over 20 years experience in the energy sector (including a 9-month secondment to RWE Renewables UK in-house legal team), Paul is experienced in dealing with innovative technologies and large infrastructure projects.
He is highly experienced in managing large project teams and is also a member of a cross departmental technology and efficiency working group which has developed (and continues to develop) innovative due diligence management and reporting tools and automation products.
Experience
- Care home: Advising a care home property owning company on its UK wide portfolio of 74 care homes including the disposal of closed and operational residential care homes.
- Care home portfolio: Advising a care home operator on its portfolio of care homes, including the acquisition of existing care home businesses acquiring development sites and development of new care homes, leases of care homes and debt finance advice.
- Care provider: Acting for the shareholder on the sale of a best-in-class provider of specialist care, education and treatment services to individuals with complex mental health needs.
- HyNet North West CO2 pipeline project: Advising the development team on the land agreements for the proposed HyNet North West CO2 pipeline project, a cross-country CCS pipeline project in north-west England and North Wales.
- Linear Projects Group: A senior member of the cross-disciplinary Linear Projects Group which meets monthly to consider legal and practical issues arising from the numerous linear projects (including electricity, hydrogen and gas/CO2) that we are advising on.
- Solar development: Acquiring solar parks at various stages of development for several developers/investors ranging from single site project acquisitions to a portfolio acquisition of over 100 operational solar parks for Octopus Investments.
