About

Sofiya is a solicitor in the Planning and Compulsory Purchase team working on energy and infrastructure projects (with a particular experience in onshore and offshore wind).

She also has experience advising clients on planning appeals, High Court challenges as well as compulsory purchase order promotion and compensation.

Sofiya has a particular interest in renewable energy and sustainable development. She contributes articles on these topics in the Journal of Planning and Environment Law and also gets invited to speak at universities, for example Durham University.

  • Major offshore wind developer: Acting for a major offshore wind developer on a nationally significant infrastructure project in the east of England.
  • Major onshore wind developer: Acting for a major onshore wind developer on a development of national significance in Wales.
  • Acquiring authorities: Acting for acquiring authorities in compulsory purchase orders, including a large highway scheme for North Somerset Council.
  • Planning appeals: Experience advising clients on planning appeals and High Court challenges.
  • Day-to-day planning advice: Providing day-to-day planning advice, including in relation to public rights of way issues and definitive map modification orders.
