Sophie read History at the University of Oxford and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Law before sitting her Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE) in 2024. Prior to joining the firm, she spent three years working in financial services, specialising in due diligence and bid-writing.
She joined Burges Salmon in September 2024 as a trainee solicitor and has completed seats in Projects, Dispute Resolution, and Banking and Finance, and is currently sitting in the Construction and Engineering team.
Experience
- Public procurement: Advising public sector clients including assisting in producing template procurement documents in compliance with the Procurement Act 2023 and managing review workstreams on a high-value competitive dialogue procurement.
- Real estate disputes: Supporting ongoing legal proceedings and pre-action advice relating to telecoms, orders for sale and development disputes, including drafting notices, instructing experts, and preparing witness statements.
- Insolvency: Advising multiple companies in relation to directors’ duties in the context of an insolvency situation.
- Project finance: Supporting multiple high-value project finance transactions, both domestically and internationally, including transaction management and drafting ancillary documents.
