Overview

Steven is a partner in the firm's construction and engineering team and advises on both the terms for the delivery of construction and engineering projects as well as the resolution of disputes. 

Steven originally qualified as a chartered surveyor before retraining as a solicitor and has spent two years working in-house at global engineering company, Rolls-Royce plc. Steven's clients appreciate the insights his experience in industry and in-house can provide.

Steven has extensive experience advising on nuclear projects (both new build and decommissioning), renewable energy schemes (including wind, solar, hydro and biomass) and commercial real estate for funders, developers, owner/occupiers, suppliers as well as investors. Steven also advises clients in the transport sector in particular aviation and rail. Steven has particular expertise in the FIDIC and NEC3 forms of contract and regularly provides bespoke training to clients on how they may be adapted as well as their effective administration.

Experience
  • Advising a developer of a new nuclear power plant on the procurement of key plant for the nuclear island.
  • Advising a provider of nuclear fuel services on the development of a suite of engineering contracts to support its capital programme based on the NEC3 standard forms.
  • Advising Temporis Capital/GIB in relation to the provision of project finance for the development of Blackcraig (52.9MW) onshore wind farm in Scotland.
  • Advising a purchaser on the acquisition of a 30MW onshore wind farm in Powys, Wales.
  • Advising a water utility on various disputes associated with its capital programme.
