Unfair dismissal law is changing – the qualifying period is coming down to 6 months, and the compensation cap is being removed, significantly increasing the potential exposure for employers.

What to expect

We will begin with a brief overview of the incoming unfair dismissal reforms and how they will take effect. We will also highlight some practical quirks and nuances arising out of the changes.

Our panel will then discuss some of the more specific issues that are now crossing our desks including:

  • Tricky probationary period issues;
  • Managing performance at senior executive level;
  • Fixed-term contracts: dodging the bear traps;
  • How settlement strategies, exit negotiations and risk appetite might be affected.

The final part of the session will be reserved for you to ask any remaining questions and to share practical ideas or approaches you may already be considering.
