About

Carys joined Burges Salmon as a trainee in 2023 and subsequently qualified into the Projects team in September 2025. She advises both private and public sector clients primarily in the environment, energy and nuclear sectors on a range of transactional, regulatory, contentious and advisory matters.

Carys undertook a client secondment at a multinational energy company during her training contract, supporting on a number of matters relating to the development of offshore wind farms in the UK as well as other energy infrastructure projects.

She sits on the UK Environmental Law South West Committee and also sits on the firms internal environment network, Bsustainable.

Experience

  • Multinational companies: Advising on environmental permitting and regulatory issues including waste regimes and regulations.
  • International technology firm: Advising an international technology firm on an investigation by the Environment Agency into water pollution offences.
  • Bioenergy company: Advising on a brokerage and sale agreement relating to the voluntary carbon market and the sale of carbon credits.
  • Advising clients across a range of sectors on environmental issues arising in corporate and property transactions.
  • Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS): Supporting the NRS legal team with regulatory matters.
  • Various private equity investors: Carrying out due diligence on project documentation related to investments and purchases of solar and battery projects.
