Alongside the announcement of Southampton & Portsmouth, West of England Combined Authority and Derby & Nottingham as new Future Mobility Zones today sharing £90m of funding, the Government also announced its long awaited call for evidence on micromobility, flexible bus services and Mobility-as-a-Service.

These three hot topics covering everything from e-scooters to maximizing the potential of buses demonstrate some of the gains to be had from harnessing new technology, data and commercial models to improve public transport.  At the heart of the strategy is a public transport system that is more integrated, accessible, affordable, efficient and clean.

The call for evidence is open until 22 May 2020 and we would encourage all stakeholders to submit their views.

Our groundbreaking future of transport programme marks the biggest review of transport laws in a generation and will pave the way for exciting new transport technology to be tested, cementing the UK’s position as a world-leading innovator
