We have advised Atrato Onsite Energy on two significant transactions, adding 20MWp to its fast-growing portfolio of UK solar assets.
The first was an investment into a 5MWp ground mounted solar plant site located in Davidstow, North Cornwall. The plant serves Saputo Dairy UK’s creamery and powers, with renewable energy, the production of iconic British brands like Cathedral City and Davidstow cheddars. The system is commercialised by a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), ensuring cost certainty for Saputo whilst supporting its carbon reduction goals.
The second involved the purchase of the Cefn Solar Park, a 15MWp ground mounted solar project, based in Wrexham and acquired from Innova. The site has been carefully selected and designed through detailed assessments considering grid availability, solar irradiance, heritage, landscape and visual impacts, and is supported by a bespoke biodiversity strategy to ensure existing and new habitats are enhanced or created to benefit local wildlife. The project is set to provide renewable electricity directly to the identified end user, Five Fords Wastewater Treatment Works.
Led by Corporate and M&A partner Camilla Usher-Clark and solicitors Olivia Pryor and Charlie Morgan, a multi-disciplinary Burges Salmon team advised on the acquisitions, providing energy, real estate, construction and regulatory expertise. The deals further cement Burges Salmon’s longstanding relationship with Atrato Onsite Energy, with the firm having supported on all of Atrato’s investments since 2022.
“Atrato Onsite Energy is committed to driving decarbonisation through meaningful and scalable solutions and its acquisition of these two high quality solar assets will play an important part in supporting the UK’s solar transition, support the grid and drive the decarbonisation of industry. It has been a pleasure to facilitate these consecutive transactions for our client and to guide Atrato Onsite Energy through the diversification and expansion of its portfolio.”
Camilla Usher-Clark, partner
“We are delighted to have made these two investments, which represent our ongoing commitment to on-site renewable energy projects that benefit business, communities and the environment. Once again, the Burges Salmon team worked hard to secure timely and smooth completions on these two projects and we’re always impressed with the team’s collaborative approach and thorough understanding of our sectors and markets.”
