Welcome to Employment Edit, our regular new update giving the pick of the key developments in employment law from the last couple of weeks:

  • The new Acas early conciliation (EC) procedure, which began on 6 April 2014, becomes mandatory on 6 May 2014.
  • On 22 April 2014, the county courts became one single County Court and fees for making a County Court or High Court claim were increased
  • The DWP has published an employers' guide which explains how to implement a Direct Earnings Attachment, used by the DWP as a way of recovering overpayment of benefits
  • The period of time before a TUPE transfer by which employee liability information must be provided increases from 14 to 28 days for transfers on or after 1 May 2014
