The Energy practice at independent UK law firm Burges Salmon has advised the sellers of Anesco, a longstanding client and market leader in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, on its sale to Aksiom Services Group, a joint venture between Ara Partners and the Aksiom Group.
To date, Anesco has developed and constructed more than 115 solar farms and energy storage facilities, including the UK’s first solar farm free from subsidies, while its operations and maintenance service now has close to 1.2GW of renewable assets under management.
The transaction sees Anesco join Aksiom's expanding portfolio of companies developing low-carbon infrastructure and helping to drive global decarbonisation.
Anesco CEO Mark Futyan will continue to lead the company. Mark says: “This is a pivotal moment for Anesco, as we gear up to deliver the next wave of large scale, subsidy-free solar and energy storage capacity. We have a longstanding relationship with the Burges Salmon team who were instrumental in supporting the successful transaction.”
The Burges Salmon team advising the sellers on the disposal of Anesco was led by partner Jonathan Eves with support from senior associate Ceri Barrett, solicitors Elena Kaltsas and Rebecca Brown, and trainee solicitor Ellen Robinson.
Jonathan adds: “We’re pleased to bring Anesco’s acquisition by Aksiom Services Group to a successful conclusion. It has been a privilege to work with Anesco over the years and continue to support the company in its mission to enable the transition to Net Zero through investment in renewables, storage and energy efficiency.”
Burges Salmon has worked with Anesco as its adviser for a number of years, with recent transactions including advising the renewable energy company on the sale of an 81MW operating battery storage portfolio to Gore Street Energy Storage Fund in November 2020 and on the completion of a utility-scale battery storage site in July 2019.
