Overview

Adrian is head of the firm's employment team. Since joining Burges Salmon in 2002, he has advised employers and employees in both the public and private sectors on the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

Adrian advises a range of FTSE-100 companies, global businesses, government departments, private companies and senior executives. He regularly advises on restructuring and other major HR projects, executive exits and appointments and high value employment disputes and claims.

Adrian has particular experience in advising on the TUPE and employment aspects of corporate transactions, outsourcing and other projects in both the private and public sectors. He also regularly advises on TUPE disputes.

Adrian is an active member of the Employment Lawyers Association and a frequent speaker at conferences and he regularly provides training on employment law issues to clients.

  • Advising a FTSE-100 defence and security group on the full range of employment advice, including day-to-day advice, a number of high profile restructuring programmes and managing employment tribunal claims.
  • Advising a global manufacturing group on a UK factory closure involving c. 900 redundancies and the defence of collective age discrimination claims.
  • Advising Thomson Reuters on the TUPE and employment aspects of major outsourcing projects.
  • Advising the Department for Education on the creation of The Doncaster Children's Services Trust involving the TUPE transfer of c.400 local authority employees.
  • Successfully defending a claim for a failure to inform and consult under TUPE brought by trade union against a transport operator.
