Overview

Andy joined Burges Salmon as a trainee in 2009 after graduating from Durham University with a first class degree in law. 

In 2011, Andy qualified into the pensions team and now advises pension trustees and employers on a broad range of pension issues. His experience includes projects such as:

  • benefit changes
  • liability management 
  • closures
  • bulk transfers
  • mergers
  • buy-ins/outs

 along with all aspects of the day to day running of pension schemes, including:

  • scheme documentation
  • member queries 
  • trustee training.

Andy is a full member of the Association of Pension Lawyers (APL) and is also a member of the APL South West committee. 

Experience
  • Advising Western Power Distribution on all of its pension arrangements.
  • Advising Trustee of the AT&T Pension Scheme on a broad range of pensions issues.
  • Advising trustees and employers in relation to liability management projects, including closure to accrual and pension increase exchange.
  • Advising trustees in relation to the buy-in and buy-out of schemes and their winding up.
  • Advising trustees in relation to corporate restructurings and managing employer debts in multi-employer schemes. 
  • Advising trustees in relation to DC governance and DC flexibilities.
