Iona Gatenby Solicitor

Iona is a Solicitor in the Planning and Compulsory Team, based in the firm’s Edinburgh office. Iona joined Burges Salmon in October 2023 upon qualification as a Solicitor. She works on a wide range of infrastructure and development matters and has worked on a number of projects in the energy sector, including onshore and offshore wind, hydrogen, EfW and tidal, as well as in the transport sector.

Iona has worked in both France and Brussels and is fluent in French.

• Assisting with a hearing and inquiry of a planning permission appeal in Scotland.
• Assisting in the mediation procedure for an onshore wind provider.
• Assisting with two large hydrogen projects involving the procurement of a supply of hydrogen for two local authorities in Scotland (acting on local authority side and developer side).
