Alex Lloyd Partner

Alex is a partner in the firm's corporate team and works in all areas of corporate finance. He acts for national and international, private and public companies and institutional investors. Alex has a particular focus on the technology sector, private equity and venture capital. He is a member of our Technology Transactions Group and leads the firms BScale initiative aimed at supporting high growth technology business and their investors.

• Advised Fern Trading Limited (advised by Octopus Investments) on multiple technology infrastructure investments and the associated provision of long term and substantial funding packages, including the restructuring of its portfolio of fibre to the premises (FTTP) businesses resulting in a substantial corporate group with a combined funding package exceeding £725m.
• Advised the high growth digital retirement savings business Embark Group Limited on multiple fundraisings (including from institutional investors Blackrock, Franklin Templeton and Merian), multiple M&A transactions and joint venture arrangements and its recent circa £390m exit to Lloyds Banking Group.
• Advised the founders of Maltese based international web analytics business Hotjar on their UK law governed circa $190m exit to venture backed French / American business Contentsquare (alongside Gleiss Lutz, Spanish, US and Maltese counsel).
• Advised on the acquisition traffic offence automation software business StartTraq Holdings Limited by August Equity.
• Advised NASDAQ listed Blink Charging on its entry into the UK EV charging market by way of the acquisition of EB Charging Limited.
• Advised French corporate Icomera (subsidiary of Engie Ineo) on multiple in-bound M&A transactions in the transport technology sector.
• Advised Virgin Management Limited and other Virgin entities in relation to multiple M&A transactions and join ventures including the sale of Virgin Care to Twenty20 Capital and the disposal by Virgin Active of 36 health clubs to Nuffield Health and 16 racquet clubs to David Lloyd Leisure.
• Advised major corporate Equans on its corporate venturing activities including multiple clean tech investments alongside Innovate UK as part of the ‘one of a kind’ Clean Growth Innovation Fund.
• Advised legal software business Legatics Limited on equity funding rounds led by Gresham and FINTOP Capital.
• Advised defence tech business Callen-Lenz on the provision of growth capital from Foresight.
• Advised waste to jet fuel business Firefly Green Fuels Limited on its growth capital investment from Wizz Air Plc and significant associated offtake arrangements. 
• Advised fin-tech business Join Communion on its equity investment by Target Global.
• Advised clean ammonia business We Are Nium on its equity investment led by AgFunder and DCVC.
• Advised NetEase on its equity investment into metaverse design business Auroboros.
