Overview

Alix is a highly experienced real estate lawyer. She advises a variety of both public and private clients in a wide-range of sectors (primarily office, energy (renewables and nuclear), infrastructure and retail). 

Alix acts for investors, developers, funders, corporate occupiers and asset owners on commercial property acquisitions and disposals, leasing, development, infrastructure projects, business purchases and acquisitions and secured lending. 

An eleven month period of secondment at the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (and its private property holding company, NDA Properties Limited) gave her a strong focus on client service and commercialism which she utilises to serve clients in a practical and pragmatic way. She is known for her ability to maintain commercial and technical excellence while managing teams to deliver clients’ objectives effectively. 

Experience
  • Advising on the acquisition of the Grand Pier Limited and subsequent real estate issues pertaining to the rebuilding and redevelopment of the Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare.
  • Advising Aviva on the acquisition of an interest a large shopping Centre in Leeds and subsequently on pre-let development agreements, other lettings and associated leasehold management issues throughout the estate.
  • Advising on The Crown Estate’s St. James’s portfolio including the sale and purchase of mixed-use (office and retail) multi-tenanted buildings and dealing with lettings and leasehold management issues across the portfolio.
  • Acting for St Modwen and in particular advising on the redevelopment of Firepool Taunton – a £270m extension of Taunton Town Centre (joint venture between the Taunton Deane Borough Council and St. Modwen procured via a Competitive Dialogue).
  • Advising Change Real Estate on the Redcliff Quarter Regeneration project, a large and prestigious mixed-use regeneration project in Bristol.
  • Acting for the Darwin Leisure Property Fund on the acquisition of numerous properties and the refinance of its £400 million portfolio.
  • Secondment to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Advising on the management of nuclear and non-nuclear portfolios, liaising with tenants (residential, commercial and agricultural), site licence companies and the NII (now ONR) in relation to site licence requirements and ongoing stakeholder/real estate issues.
