About

Iona is a solicitor in the Planning and Compulsory team, based in the firm’s Edinburgh office.

She works on a wide range of infrastructure and development matters and has worked on a number of projects in the energy sector, including onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and hydrogen. She has experience in EIAR/ES review and the preparation of planning applications, the DCO process in England and section 36 applications in Scotland. She also has experience in planning appeals and inquiries and compulsory purchase.

Iona has worked in both France and Brussels, and is fluent in French.

Experience

  • Mona Offshore Wind Project: part of the core team working on the DCO application for the offshore wind project.
  • Morgan Offshore Wind Project (transmission assets): Part of the team working on the DCO application and responsible for protective provisions.
  • Kirkton Energy Park: Part of the core team for the s36 inquiry.
  • Stratera: Providing support to Stratera on their planning application for Kintore Hydrogen.
  • Loch Long Salmon: Assisting with the planning appeal for Loch Long Salmon’s marine fish farm.
  • Kirkton Wind Farm Limited: Advised on the Strathy South compulsory purchase order.
