About

Jonathan works with public and private companies and advises on a broad range of corporate matters including acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, funding rounds, joint development arrangements and general aspects of company law. He is qualified to practise law in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

He is highly experienced in clean energy M&A transactions, and is a core member of the firm’s Corporate Energy practice that has regularly been ranked as one of the most active in clean energy M&A deals according to Clean Energy Pipeline’s annual league tables.

As a member of the firm’s Energy & Utilities and Infrastructure sector teams, Jonathan has acted for a range of developers, investors and funders across a range of clean energy technologies including solar, wind, biomass, hydro, anaerobic digestion, battery storage and energy from waste projects. As well as clean energy transactions, he also acts on resource and waste management M&A transactions on both buy and sell side.

Experience

  • Bluefield Solar Income Fund: Advising on its long-term strategic partnership with UK-based infrastructure fund GLIL Infrastructure and the related acquisition of a 247 MW UK-based solar portfolio from Lightsource bp (comprising 58 operational assets).
  • Fulcrum BioEnergy Ltd: Advising on leading leisure travel group Jet2 plc’s major investment into the Fulcrum NorthPoint facility, which is a Waste-to-Fuels plant that will be located in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
  • Enray Power (formerly known as Integrum Renewable Energy): Advising the UK-based solar PV and integrated battery storage developer on its acquisition of a 78 MW co-located solar and battery project from renewables developer Island Green Power.
  • ICG: Advising the infrastructure fund of ICG, the global alternative asset manager, on its acquisition of British Solar Renewables (BSR), one of the largest integrated solar developers in the UK.
  • Gravis: Advising Gravis’ infrastructure investment fund on its investment into SolarCatcher, a pioneering UK-based developer of solar-powered electric vehicle charging infrastructure
  • Balance Power: Advising the independent energy specialist on a milestone partnership with TagEnergy, to build, own, and operate 500MW of new energy storage projects in the UK.
