About

Malcolm is a partner in the Corporate and M&A team, and is a member of the Energy & Utilities team. With over 20 years’ experience in both corporate and energy law, he advises clients across a range of industry sectors with particular expertise in the energy industry.

He provides advice to clients on all aspects of corporate and energy law, including M&A/transactional work, private equity transactions, joint venture arrangements, energy project developments and corporate structuring. He is also the corporate lead in the firm’s ESG team, advising on the corporate ESG disclosure requirements applicable to UK businesses.

Malcolm is listed as a recommended lawyer in both Corporate and Commercial in the 2023 edition of Legal 500 UK.

Experience

  • EDF Energy UK: Advising on its £25 million corporate disposal to Kistos Energy of two onshore UK gas storage facilities.
  • ESB: Advising on its acquisition of a 33% interest in the Gwynt Glas Offshore Floating Windfarm project, with EDF Renewables and Reventus Power each owing 330% of the project (which included advising on the new shareholder arrangements and related project documentation).
  • Clean Energy Cap Ltd: Advising on its investment from True Green Capital Management LLC.
  • The Wales Pension Partnership (WPP): Advising WPP, a collaboration of the local government pension schemes in Wales, on its £68 million investment into a portfolio of onshore wind projects located across Wales.
