About

Patrick is a director in the firm’s planning and compulsory purchase team. He advises on a wide range of infrastructure and development matters, with a particular specialism in energy projects. He also advises scheme promotors and affected parties on compulsory purchase and compensation.

He provides advice to clients on a wide range of matters in the planning process, including advising on planning applications, environmental impact assessment requirements and reviewing EIA reports. He also regularly advises clients in relation to planning appeals, public inquiries and judicial review.

Patrick is a member of the Scottish Renewables Legal T&F Group.

Experience

  • Equinor: Advising on the granted 950MW DCO for Sheringham Shoal and Dudgeon Extension Offshore Wind Farms in a single DCO application. Advice included: reviewing EIA; Derogation/IROPI strategy and other consenting issues.
  • Harbour Energy: Advising on Viking CCS 55km carbon dioxide pipeline Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project in Lincolnshire, including advising on all aspects of the DCO application, consenting strategy, application document and DCO drafting.
  • Wind 2: Advising on the section 36 public inquiry in respect of the first application for wind farm development within the newly designated Flow Country World Heritage Site.
  • SSE: Advising on the promotion of the compulsory purchase order for the Seagreen offshore wind farm for acquisition of land and rights in land to develop an onshore substation and cable route (circa 19km) to connect the offshore wind farm to the grid
  • bp/EnBW : Advising on the DCO application for the 1.5GW Morgan Offshore Wind Farm, and separate DCO application for a co-ordinated grid connection, connecting at a substation in England.
