Managing performance and dismissal risk in the new ERA world – an in-person panel discussion

Unfair dismissal law is changing – the qualifying period is coming down to 6 months, and the compensation cap is being removed, significantly increasing the potential exposure for employers.

If you want to get to grips with the practical implications of this key Employment Rights Act 2025 reform, you are warmly invited to join us at our in-person panel session where we will be discussing the changes and answering your questions. 

What to expect

We will begin with a brief overview of the incoming unfair dismissal reforms and when they will take effect. From there we will identify the key operational ‘hot spots’ where the new reforms are likely to have a particular impact including in relation to recruitment practices, the role of the line manager and performance management more generally.   

Our panel will then discuss some of the more specific issues that are now crossing our desks including:

  • Tricky probationary period issues;
  • Managing performance at senior executive level;
  • Fixed-term contracts: dodging the bear traps;
  • How settlement strategies, exit negotiations and risk appetite might be affected.

The final part of the session will be reserved for you to ask any remaining questions and to share practical ideas or approaches you may already be considering.
