About

Luke is a partner in the Employment team advising on the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment-related public and private sector work.

He is well known for his expertise in large scale redundancy, restructuring and change programmes and in managing complex employment tribunal litigation including high value and sensitive discrimination and whistleblowing claims.

Luke is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association and the Industrial Law Society, and is a regular commentator on employment law issues and speaker at external seminars and events across the UK.

Experience

  • Leading transport operator: Advising on complex employment tribunal claims, industrial action and statutory recognition and significant HR projects including the large-scale transfer of employees under TUPE.
  • Aerospace, defence and nuclear engineering services provider: Delivered comprehensive advice on a complex restructure spanning multiple UK entities, functions and locations over a one-year period.
  • Trade association: Providing a comprehensive employment helpline service across the UK including provision and updating of, employee handbooks, HR policies and suites of guidance notes.
  • FTSE 100 companies: Advising on the implications of recent landmark cases relating to holiday pay and on subsequent legislation and successfully defending large class claims in relation to the same.
  • Higher education establishment: Advising on complex and high profile employment tribunal proceedings including multi-day race and philosophical belief claims and subsequent Employment Appeal Tribunal proceedings.
  • International engineering and support services group: Advising for 20+ years on a full range of employment issues including on collective consultation processes (both for TUPE and redundancy purposes) and C-Suite executive appointments and severance.
