Welcome to Burges Salmon’s Pensions Law Summary on the Pension Schemes Act 2021.

Our pensions law summaries aim to simplify complicated topics in pensions law and provide practical steps for employers and trustees. These summaries cover a range of topics including cyber security, ESG and asset backed funding.

Our team are experts in all areas of pensions law and can assist you with any issues or questions you may have on this topic.

The Pension Schemes Act received royal assent on 11 February 2021. It covers areas including DB scheme funding (which we discuss in more detail in a separate summary), pension dashboards, transfers and pension scams (which we covered in a separate webinar) and climate change risk. We consider those areas in detail in this summary as well as considering the new enhanced regulator powers and sanctions introduced by the Act.

We know that navigating the new powers of the Regulator introduced by the Pension Schemes Act can be complicated. That is why we have developed our Burges Salmon PSA Triage Tool which is designed to help employers and trustees make practical decisions following business events. Find out more here.
