About

Jonathan is a partner in the Burges Salmon corporate group with a particular focus on transactions involving the Build Environment sector. He has more than 28 years of experience advising on corporate transactions, in particular domestic and international structured corporate real estate acquisitions and disposals involving complex due diligence and warranty and indemnity insurance issues.

Jonathan acts for a range of clients including global and domestic institutional investors, real estate funds and private and listed property companies. He has a wealth of expertise in establishing joint ventures for real estate development and investment activities and in the drafting constitutional documents for corporate structures such as limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships, unit trusts and companies.

He also acts for family offices, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds in their investments into private fund structures.

  • Harrison Street Real Estate Capital: Advising this leading real estate investment management firm on their development joint venture for the acquisition and funding of a £302m build to rent scheme in Birmingham.
  • McArthurGlen: advising Europe’s leading owner, developer and manager of designer outlet mall in their £160m joint venture for a new development in Cannock, West Midlands..
  • Argent: advising one of the UK’s most prominent developers on their joint venture with Related Inc., a significant US investment firm, to pursue large scale investment projects.
  • P3 Logistic Parks: advising one of Europe’s largest logistic real estate developers on their expansion into the UK with the corporate acquisition of a company powning property in Crick with 36,000sqm of lettable space.
  • Akis REIT: advising this Turkish listed real estate company on their joint venture for the acquisition of a development site in Aldgate, London and its subsequent disposal by way of a sale of shares.
  • Confidential Sovereign Wealth fund: advising one of the world’s largest investors on over twenty investments into real estate and infrastructure funds with an aggregate value of over USD2bn.
