Overview

Lucy is a partner in our technology team and advises on a range of technology, data protection, cyber security and commercial matters. She has in-depth sector experience with a particular focus on the transport, public and healthcare sectors. 

Lucy’s extensive experience covers advising on technology-related transactions including public and private sector organisations on business critical outsourcings, technology procurement and software licensing. As part of her work, Lucy also advises clients on data protection and cyber security issues including in relation to the government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Lucy was recognised as a 'Rising Star' for IT and Telecoms by Legal 500 (2022). 

Lucy is a member of the Society for Computers and Law (SCL) and leads the firm’s work with the Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) All Party Parliamentary Group. 

 
Experience
  • Working as part of the FLOURISH and Capri driverless car trials based in Bristol and South Gloucestershire, in particular in relation to (1) the standards for data sharing and cyber security, and recommendations for changes and/or clarifications to data protection legislation to support the successful adoption (including user acceptance) of connected and autonomous vehicles on UK roads, and (2) changes to regulations to enable the deployment of pods on pavements and in dual-mode utilising pavements and public roads.
  • Co-technical author on British Standards Institution CAV PAS 1882:2021 on data collection and management for automated vehicle trials for the purpose of incident investigation. 
  • Leading the team advising the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport on the data protection aspects of the Events Research Programme.
  • Advising the Department for Work and Pensions on a range of data protection issues. 
  • Advising a regulator on its procurement of business-critical systems and services to support the operation and optimisation of its regulatory functions.
  • Acting for customers from the public, transport and energy sectors on technology procurement and software, data and technology licensing.
