Burges Salmon has advised Virgin Group on the acquisition of Whitfield Studios, a 21,000 square foot work space in the iconic former recording studios based in Fitzrovia, London.

The Whitfield Street property was acquired by entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group with plans to refurbish and refit the former recording studios for use as the Virgin Group’s new London headquarters.

The Burges Salmon team advising on the deal was led by partner Rick Read, alongside senior associate Simon Dempster and director Will Hall, all from the firm’s Real Estate team, with assistance from Corporate Tax partner Hilary Barclay.

Rick Read comments: “Virgin remains at the forefront of global growth investment, entrepreneurship and innovation. The Group’s acquisition of Whitfield Studios is a fitting addition to the prestigious and well-respected brand and we are delighted to have supported the Group in its acquisition of this iconic property.

Ian Woods, COO and General Counsel at Virgin Group, adds: “A big thanks to Rick and the team for their efforts and enabling us to complete the transaction smoothly. We are grateful for the team’s diligent, timely and professional approach in guiding us through the entire process.”
